Nulo partner Jordan Stolz is a long-track speed skater and, at just 21 years old, one of the most dominant athletes in the history of the sport. He holds multiple world records, became the youngest world champion ever, and has won the prestigious Oscar Mathisen Award two years in a row. In 2024, he made history by winning 18 consecutive World Cup races, breaking a record that had stood for years. With the 2026 Winter Games in Milan approaching, where Jordan will compete in the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m, he's focused on bringing home multiple medals.

Off the ice, Jordan shares his home with Mitzi, a 9-year-old rescue cat who appeared at their door one winter looking for food and shelter. After about a month of patience and treats, Mitzi became an official member of the Stolz family. Jordan sat down with the Nulo team to share how Mitzi provides comfort and escape from the intense pressure of elite competition, and why he trusts Nulo to fuel her with the same quality nutrition he demands for himself.

Tell us about Mitzi and how she became part of your family.

Mitzi is about nine years old, I think. We're not exactly sure because she came to our house in the winter, looking for food to eat. We took her in, and it took her about a month to get used to us. Now she's very friendly and she loves us. We had another cat already at the time that we rescued from the streets during the winter, too. Once Mitzi saw Silver, our other cat, they both became very friendly and enjoyed spending time together. 

What does Mitzi mean to you?

Mitzi's a part of the family. She really likes to sleep a lot, eat a lot, and beg for more food. She LOVES food. It's really just unconditional love with Mitzi. Whenever I return from the World Cup competitions, she's always happy to see me.

Tell us about your sport and how you got into speed skating.

I started speed skating when I was five years old. I actually started out in short track on the pond in my backyard. My sister and I shoveled off a track, bought some cheap skates from our local store, and that's basically how we started. Now, here I am today.

What role does Mitzi play in your mental health as a professional athlete?

In speed skating, there's a lot of pressure to perform and train hard. I travel to World Cups five months out of the year. I come back home and I get to see Mitzi again, and I miss her a lot. Mental health as an athlete is super important, and having Mitzi at home is just comforting. It's somewhere to escape from all the pressure. So Mitzi, in that sense, is very special to me.

Why do you choose Nulo for Mitzi?

As an athlete, I know how important nutrition is for performance and just overall health and feeling well. So, of course, we want our pets to have the same thing—the best nutrition possible.
