Off the slopes, Christof's constant companion is Jacky, a rescue dog who came from a home where he wasn't wanted. Now, Jacky is Christof's number one teammate—sharing his love for speed as they run together through the mountain forests of South Tyrol. Tell us about Jacky and how he became part of your family.
I rescued Jacky from a situation where no one wanted him, and now he's an incredible companion. Jacky loves to run with me, and we often go foraging for mushrooms together, too. We make a good team, and I love his company.
What role does Jacky play in your life as an athlete?
Jacky has been such an important support throughout my skiing career. Jacky is my number one teammate. When I don’t feel like doing anything, Jacky still wants to go for a walk, so it’s my reason to stay moving. It’s a good workout, and we’re having fun together. When we’re both fit, we can reach new peaks. Having him with me gives me motivation and companionship, especially during the demanding training periods.
