The position:

The Trade Marketing Director will be responsible for all marketing activations with our Trade partners. They will work as a close liaison between the sales and marketing functions and will solicit, plan, and execute all in-store, distributor and EComm marketing programs for Nulo. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, marketing expertise, sales acumen, organizational skills, product knowledge, merchandising understanding, and be capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously.


Work as marketing liaison between the Sales and Marketing functions to execute Trade marketing activations;
Assist in all Trade event strategies and executions;
Cultivate relationships with marketing departments’ at all key strategic retailers and distributor partners. Also ensure connection with retail sales associates and distributor reps to push our brand/product;
Develop marketing plans/activations for retailers;
Help obtain better visibility of our brand performance at store level;
Execute collaborations between our brand and retail partners;
Build presentations (as needed) to present to sales and marketing teams for new programs;
Manage and report on Trade Marketing budget;
Present results to Nulo’s HQ team from executed activations.

ECommerce Trade marketing management:

Develop traffic-driving initiatives with ECommerce Trade partners that leverage communication channels like digital, social media, traditional, media, events, etc.
Create sales programs, marketing initiatives, and other activations for key online retailers:
Amazon, Wag, Chewy, Pet Flow, Pet 360;
Oversee all levels of online marketing support (i.e. online banners, social media promotions, content);
Oversee SuperZoo and Global trade show executions;
Work closely with Nulo’s marketing team to ensure all Trade activations are aligned with social channels and Ecommerce platforms.

In-store activation:

Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to create and manage marketing opportunities with our Trade partners. Events, POP, digital, promotions, etc.;
Work with Trade Marketing implement in-store programs and events for all retailers;
Manage trade marketing budget and oversee the overall execution of trade programs from start to finish;
Establish, manage, and foster on-going communication with key marketing contacts in order to identify and participate in relevant promotional opportunities which drive awareness, traffic and sell-through for retailers;
Manage in-store marketing assets/portfolio and ensure compliance with corporate branding standards;
Conduct occasional field audits to assess how Nulo’s product is positioned vs. competitors, scouting new merchandising opportunities, gaining feedback from store managers/ buyers, etc.

Marketing materials management:

Maintain and update all marketing communications (i.e. Trade calendars & one sheets) and make sure that all materials are distributed internally so that teams are well versed on initiatives;
Work with key Trade contacts to ensure smooth submission and execution on all marketing requests at account level (i.e., signage, roll-out schedules, etc.);
Ensure our brand has consistency with assets across the market.
Manage and optimize inventory and fulfillment of brand assets;

ROI tracking/ reporting:

Evaluate and execute store level marketing requests received from field Reps;
Develop and implement marketing programs that are innovative, creative and demonstrate return on investment; both immediate as well as long term;
Analyze the performance—both quantitative and qualitative— of our consumer and Trade marketing programs and develop recaps showcasing ROI in terms of sales results, consumer response, foot traffic and other KPI metrics;
Review monthly sales and metrics reports to ensure a thorough knowledge of retail sales; track key retailers and category trends and make recommendations for future programs.

Competitor and trend research as it pertains to Trade marketing:

Conduct on-going market research to identify competitor activity for potential marketing opportunities and stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.

You bring:

A Bachelor’s Degree required; Degree in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, media studies, business, and/or related fields preferred;
A creative, self-starter attitude with a strong desire to be part of an entrepreneurial company/ brand;
An ability to thrive and work effectively as part of a cross functional, dispersed, resource lean, high-energy team and a willingness to wear lots of hats in an often times ambiguous environment;
Minimum 4 years of experience in trade marketing/sales management. Ideally have worked with leading natural foods, beverage or CPG brands that are sold in conventional Trade;
Proven track record of delivering best in class marketing and sales campaigns and initiatives to drive trial, awareness and advocacy;
Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyze and interpret data to determine marketing program performance and identify opportunities to enhance revenue and ROI;
A love for all things pet retail, active lifestyle, and pets.
